Roshan has over 30 years experience of English teaching, both in this country and abroad. He has taught in private language schools in Europe, London and Oxford, in grammar schools and state institutions, as well as universities and FE colleges.
Roshan has worked in Athens, Beijing and Delhi for a range of organisations including the Arts Council of Great Britain and the British Council. In Britain he has given very successful talks/papers to educational and training organisations including Cambridge and Oxford universities, private schools and a range of museums and art galleries.
Roshan has had past experience of being a head of English, EFL, Functional Skills, and a professor in English at BCU. He has coordinated the teaching and delivery of a number of teaching courses including PGCE, Cert Ed and DET. Roshan has also taught undergraduates as well as postgraduates on MA and Ph.D. programmes. His specialist subjects are curriculum design, the teaching of English and the politics and nature of education.
As a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a former AQA examiner, Roshan has an excellent insight into some of the most pertinent issues affecting education today. He is also a BBC critic and online columnist for the Times Educational Supplement, writing on a wide range of subjects related to teaching and learning and classroom practice. His most recent areas of workshops/talks have been the delivery of Functional Skills, mental health and the effective embedding of literacy, E&D and British values in the curriculum. He is often invited to deliver keynote speeches and workshops at education conferences.
Roshan was appointed Birmingham Poet Laureate in 2000.
