Marcus Alexander is Puffin's author of the Keeper of the Realms fantasy series. He's an action and adrenaline junkie with a background in gymnastics, parkour, pro-fighting, snowboarding, climbing and sandboarding.

Marcus is also a champion of literacy and has built a strong reputation for inspiring today's youth to put aside their smart devices and pick up a book.

Marcus offers talks to students from KS3 to KS5. His presentations focus on his travels and adventures; from hiking across frozen waterfalls, sandboarding in the Sahara and fighting in the Golden Triangle (and more!) to illustrate his points. The crux of his events centre upon the need to think outside the box, the necessity of imagination and overcoming fears to develop confidence.

Marcus has had a wild and unusual life, other than his career as an author he has owned businesses abroad, been a sailor, a fighter, a dancer, a PT, a restaurateur, worked for property developers and traveled the world as a chef.

His talks focus on:

• The importance of resilience, independence and creativity.
• Giving students a simple toolset for navigating the complex decisions that they'll face throughout life.
• Additional talking points are: the real strength or diversity, non-conformity, dealing with trolls and building blocks for identity.
