Behind the grin is a compelling story of misspent youth when Errol’s life was ruled by gangs, crime and drugs. Not only did he claw his way back to the right side, Errol has gone on to become a successful entrepreneur, author and sought-after motivational speaker.
Errol is a case study in personal responsibility. He weaves in his own story with the aim of inspiring young people to be courageous, aim high, achieve and actively make an impact on their community. It might be too bold of us to proclaim Errol as the ‘best motivational speaker for teenagers in the UK’, but to mash-up a Brian Clough quote, we reckon he’s in a small group of one.
Errol also works with teachers and corporate audiences, delivering his brand of brilliance in an authentic and no-nonsense way. Errol’s versatility means he can deliver anything from a 20 minute keynote through to a half day workshop.
Outside of work Errol managed to squeeze in time to be awarded the coveted “Local Hero” award for his contribution made to the lives of people within the UK by the association of Jamaican nationals (AJN).
Engaging and motivating your underachieving year 10 and 11 boys?
Every school has them – a hardcore of underachieving young men who are in danger of becoming the ‘lost boys’. Schools have responded to the attainment gap by providing various kinds of interventions, some good, some not-so-good - we’ve seen them all.
These young people can be your biggest headache, and we have the solution!
Errol has devised a 6-week to 12 month mentoring programme based on his best selling book called 'From The Postcode to The Globe' specifically aimed at year 10 & 11 boys from inner city schools. The programme remains totally flexible but typically begins with a whole year group assembly before focusing on 25 to 30 of the students who need it most. Errol schedules a series of one hour workshops around themes of goal-setting, self-belief, relationships, self-discovery, signature strengths and positive communication. The aim is to instil new ways of thinking and behaving and get the boys engaged with their potential.
Errol has a powerful backstory of his own. This gives him a unique ability to connect with students and challenge and transform their thinking. He knows what it’s like to be in their shoes and he knows what it takes to turn it around.
Errol’s belief is that these boys are not bad lads. And neither are they stupid. It is simply that they have so far failed to engage. They are sleepwalking and this is their wake-up call.
