As a member of the Great Britain rowing team from 1997-2008, Toby became a double World Champion (2000,2001), double World Silver medalist (2002, 2003) and attended two Olympic Games (Sydney and Athens).
He helps young people to reach their potential, whether this is in sport, or life in general. Toby suffered with dyslexia and struggled significantly whilst at school with a fear of exams. He has continually pushed himself to overcome this by taking exams in subjects that interest him. He also has an understanding and empathy for young people as he comes from a single parent family so can identify with those who find life difficult and are maybe missing a role model.
His experiences during his rowing career tested him on many levels, physically and emotionally. He realized that the ability to stretch goals and bounce back from setbacks in the cut throat world of sport gave him a renewed determination to succeed. Sport changed his life and he strongly believes that if he can pass on just some of his determination and drive then it would help people see anything is possible - they just have to find their own talents.
He has shown initiative by taking Pilates and fitness into schools together with motivational speaking and enjoys passing on his knowledge and experience to youngsters as a Harnessing Talent athlete and member of the Performer Steering Group with the Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust and as a mentor for the Youth Sports Trust.
