Stephané Alexandre is a filmmaker who for the last 15 years has worked across Film, TV and digital. Her experience spans across branded film, commercials, factual ent and across scripted comedy/ drama. Part of WFTV 2022 Mentee programme, BAFTA Connect and BFI x BAFTA 2021 crew, she is passionate about British cinema and rolling out the carpet for black and diverse characters that breathe life, on screen and inspire all audiences.
Her directing work spans across clients such as Amazon Prime, BBC Bitesize to Comedy Central UK. Whilst her most recent producing work is a 5x part 44 mins long form doc for Viacom, The Evolution of Black British Music on My5/BET UK. Stephané Series Produced the first all UK Black led production for Viacom. Drunk History: Black Stories launched in April 2021 on digital and is a spin off from the main US series, Drunk History, and directed Episode "Yaa Asantewaa" starring Amma Asante and Sheila Atim.
In 2021 she directed short form series for Amazon Prime Video, "Where are you from, from?" starring Rapman, Yung Filly and Fenn O'Meally. The series follows black creatives in a short form documentary, highlighting their culture, life before success to present day. In 2009 she founded a blog, Milk + Honey, aimed at young girls and women. The site's purpose was to promote positive and inspirational news. Challenging the standards of beauty and images portrayed by the media.
She is passionate about speaking to young women aged 11 and above about a range of topics highlighting self-esteem, self-worth and race. Her talks include topics on "Loving yourself at the Core" "Enhance" and "The Other Side".
The platform Milk + Honey gained Stephané the opportunity to speak at TEDxYouth in November 2015 about her passion for young women and self-acceptance. The site was awarded Runner Up at the 2015 Premier Digital Awards for Most Innovative Use of Digital Media in Outreach. In 2012 the hub was featured on Virgin Media Pioneer of The Month and in 2011 was featured in Powerful Media’s, Future Leaders magazine. Emerging Student's Magazine also included the site in their Top 10 Students/Alumni Ones to Watch in 2012. Milk + Honey was also shortlisted on Cosmopolitan's 2012 Blog Awards in their Lifestyle category, making it to the final 5. In 2017 she was listed on Ghana's Future Leaders 30 - U30 list.
