A self taught baker, a stalker of French Patisserie window displays. A lover of a stripe or a sequin , a beret, a cape. Fascinated by shoes, excited by colour, moves to a beat, sings in the heat.
Having had an interesting life so far Karen likes to ring the changes in her life every now and then. When she was twenty one she shocked her family and friends by leaving a safe job in a bank and her mortgage behind and did the proverbial Shirley Valentine and took herself off to Greece. Amongst other things during that time she worked for a shipping magnate as his Gamekeepers assistant.
She returned to the UK and worked whilst bringing her first child up single handedly before eventually getting married and completing her family.She has worked with glasses, in a law firm, in a supermarket, she made candles, she had a florist shop, worked for the local authority and eventually worked in the holiday industry maintaining and repairing caravans.
Karen applied for the television show The Great British Bake Off and her new journey started there, she has stories to tell and has lessons she has learned, her next adventure awaits her. She uses all these experiences to entertain, to motivate and encourage people to follow their dreams and to keep stepping up.
