"Ex-Aldro pupil Will Perry has visited his former school on a number of occasions, to talk to the pupils, Staff and parents about his career and the challenges of Dwarfism. This has often involved speaking to our Year 8 Leavers – an audience of around 40 pupils in a classroom or lecture room – and just last Summer we were delighted to have Will as our guest speaker on Speech Day, when he spoke confidently in front of an audience of around 500. Will mixes entertaining tales of his experiences at school and beyond with inspirational stories of his swimming career, and his journey to becoming a Paralympic athlete. He can describe how hard it has been finding the time to train, and the challenges he has had to overcome to gain selection for the Team GB squad – and then he will give sound advice about courage, perseverance and resilience. Will has the knack of striking a chord with both children and adults – which is not an easy task – and is articulate, charismatic and captivating. We look forward to his return this Summer, and to following his progress as he works towards selection for Paris 2024."

Will was an amazing speaker, presenting an impressive keynote, sharing both his para-Olympic achievements, and views on the 3 O’s Opportunity, Objective, Outcome which was very well received by a wide audience. "First and foremost, Will is a super chap, sociable, respectful and easy to chat to. He spoke and presented our prizes at Hatherop Castle School's Speech Day giving two talks one to the younger children (Rec- Y2) and the second to the older children (Y3 -Y8). Both talks were pitched perfectly to the age group and were interesting, informative and entertaining. He showed real passion in his subject matter and spoke eloquently (without notes). Will's experience in the world of Paralympian sport (swimming) and dealing with being different in the modern world and not giving up when faced with challenges or obstacles provides a great message for both children and adults and one that Will presents with passion, knowledge and articulately.
