Dr. Bahijja Raimi-Abraham is a TEDx speaker, a pharmacist and Lecturer in Pharmaceutics at King’s College London where she is developing her research which focuses on Ageing and Global Health. She is the first graduate of the University of East Anglia School of Pharmacy to be awarded a Ph.D and more recently won the Outstanding Woman in STEM Precious Award.

Dr. Raimi-Abraham’s talks are motivational and her speaking topics include general STEM and pharmacy profession focused career advice, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), STEAM education and her research.

Bahijja speaks to the students about her career journey ranging from experiences in clinical practice (in both community and hospital sectors), academia, regulator sector and a brief appearance in James Bond Skyfall! She also speaks on educational and scientific topics such as “The Science of Making Medicines” or more specifically about her research in Ageing and Global Health.

Dr. Raimi-Abraham graduated with a pharmacy degree from the University of East Anglia (UEA), School of Pharmacy and registered as a pharmacist after completing a pre-registration year at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. After her Ph.D. at UEA, Dr Raimi-Abraham then went on to undertake an Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) funded postdoctoral research associate at the University College London (UCL) followed by a secondment at the European Medicines Agency (EMA) before starting her lectureship at King’s College London.

Dr Raimi-Abraham has an extensive and original public engagement portfolio which includes uniquely exploring the use of street art to engage public with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) research through her social enterprise STEAM:ED Collective, a TEDx talk (TEDx Talk title 'Elements of Change: Becoming an Independent Researcher') and a 'Go and No-go pills' Somerset House 24/7 exhibition, visited by ~35,000 people (October 2019 – February 2020). More recently hosting a weekly podcast, Monday Science, which discusses the latest in Science, Health and Technology. Dr Raimi-Abraham’s work in research informed teaching has also been recognised by the Nuffield Foundation.
